Just a quick note to point out that I’ll be on the road this week in Napa and Sonoma. On Tuesday afternoon, I’ll be on a panel at WITS talking about Wine 2.0. The rest of the week I’ll be meeting with clients, visiting wineries and seeing as many friends as possible.

You can follow my travels on my Twitter and Brightkite accounts (let me know if you need a Brightkite invite; have a bunch left). I don’t expect the trip to cut down on my blogging as I’ve scheduled some posts for tomorrow and expect to learn plenty of new things in my travels to share.

Robert from The Wine Conversation and Thirst for Rioja blogs commented about how American-focused my list of must-read blogs is. And he’s absolutely correct.

So to take a step in the direction of global unity, I offer an extended list of links on my Blogroll on the right and translation into French, Italian, Spanish, German and Portuguese. Since the translation plug-in uses Google Language services, the results are probably entertaining for native speakers but it appears from my logs that some readers speak those languages. Just click on the appropriate flag for your language to translate the site.

If you do, please let me know how well, or poorly, this works as my high school French is quite rusty. If there are wine blogs in languages other than English that I should link to, please add them in the comments.

I’m happy to take the covers off this site and formally launch this blog. Let me start with a short introduction and then move into what I hope to accomplish here.

My name is Tim Elliott and I started Acan Media as an extension of my wine blog and podcast, Winecast. Soon after I incorporated, I began to consult with a Napa Valley winery which became a full-time engagement for most of the past 18 months. There I learned the wine trade from the point of view of the producer and adapted much of what I had learned in my 20+ years of technology marketing. Although I am still doing project work for them, I am actively seeking new clients who want to get the most out of their direct to consumer marketing. What I hope to accomplish with this blog is to discuss the business issues of the wine trade and point out examples of wineries who are successfully navigating the direct to consumer waters online. I hope you will join me daily by subscribing to my blog feed.
